Of the formal rules can be named only one - the presence of the title.
The internal structure of homeworkmarket can be arbitrary. Since it is a small form of a written work, it is not necessary to necessarily repeat the conclusions at the end, they can be included in the main text or in the title.
Argumentation may precede the formulation of the problem. The formulation of the problem may coincide with the final conclusion.
Unlike the abstract, which is addressed to any reader, so it starts with "I want to tell about..." and ends with "I have come to the following conclusions...", the essay is a rejoinder addressed to a prepared reader (listener). That is, a person who already has a general idea of what will be discussed. This allows the author to focus on the disclosure of the new and not to overload the statement with service details.
Basic mistakes when writing an essay
Unlike tests, essays do not assume a multiple-choice format (when you are offered several answers to choose from). Writing is not limited in time, you can rewrite it many times, ask your friends to read it. Take advantage of all the possibilities and try to avoid common mistakes.
Bad check.
Don't think you can limit yourself to spell-checking. Reread and make sure there aren't any ambiguous expressions, unfortunate turns, etc. Examples you shouldn't "take note" of:
- "I am proud to have been able to stand up to drug, alcohol, and tobacco use."
- "Working for you, in a wonderful place with lots of Gothic-style architecture, would be an exciting challenge for me."
Tiresome prefaces, insufficient detail
Too often an interesting essay loses out in that it is an enumeration of statements without illustrating them with examples. It is characterized by the usual clichés: the importance of hard work and perseverance, learning from mistakes, etc.
Versatility
Essays are limited to a certain number of words, so you need to manage this amount wisely. Sometimes this means leaving out some ideas or details, especially if they have already been mentioned somewhere or are not directly relevant. Such things only distract the reader's (listener's) attention and overshadow the main topic.
Long sentences.
The longer the sentence, the better - this is what some candidates think. However, this is far from the truth. Long phrases do not yet prove the author right, and short sentences often produce a greater effect. Long sentences are best when they are interspersed with short sentences. Try reading the essay out loud. If you feel like you're catching your breath, break up the paragraph into smaller paragraphs.
When you're done writing, do this exercise. Assign a letter to each paragraph: either S (short), M (medium), or L (long). S is less than 10 words, M is less than 20 words, and L is 20 words or more.
The following or a similar order of letters is correct: M S M L M S.
Incorrect is this sequence: S S S S M L L L.
Do not overload the essay.
When writing, discard encyclopedia words. Incorrect use of such words distracts the reader's attention and diminishes the significance of your work.
By avoiding such common mistakes, you will be able to interest the expert committee.
